A seven-run explosion in the fifth inning spurred the New Brunswick (2-1) to a 13-7 win in seven innings over the Newfoundland (0-3) at Cairns Field on Thursday.

The New Brunswick scored in the fifth on a two-run double by Jeremie Arseneau, a two-run single by Kyle Jewell, , an RBI single by Brett Brittany, and a sacrifice fly by Nick Noel.

Jewell racked up three RBIs on three hits for the New Brunswick.

Nate Ronan recorded his first win of the year for the New Brunswick. Ronan struck out two, walked one and gave up three hits.

Ben Murphy was charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in four innings, walked four and struck out two.
