The Saskatchewan (1-0) shut the door early on the Manitoba (0-1), capturing a 12-2 victory on Wednesday at Cairns Field.

Seven runs in the first three innings allowed the Saskatchewan to put the game away early.

A two-run single by Brett Esau in the first inning and , a two-run single by Eric Clauson, a triple by Dylan Flasch, , a triple by Brayden Resch, and a single by Esau during the second inning fueled the Saskatchewan's offense early.

Flasch racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Saskatchewan.

Christian Peters had a hot bat for the Manitoba. Peters went 1-3, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the fifth inning.

Dolan Kunkel improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Saskatchewan. He allowed two runs over six innings. Kunkel struck out three, walked two and gave up six hits.

Mitchell Lyall ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in 1 1/3 innings, walked one and struck out one.
