Jace Whitley had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He homered in the third inning and doubled in the eighth inning.
The Statesville Owls couldn't get anything going so long as Keith Walsh was on the hill. The Statesville Owls managed just three hits off of Walsh, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four during his four innings of work.
Zachary Thompson racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Statesville Owls. He homered in the first inning and singled in the third innings.
Kendall Hughes got his third win for the Carolina Vipers despite allowing eight runs over five innings. Hughes struck out two, walked two and gave up eight hits.
Sam Laws ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just four innings, walked two, struck out four, and allowed three runs.
Nick Marsit, Patric King, Whitley and Sam Fulginiti helped lead the Carolina Vipers. They combined for eight hits and eight RBIs.
