Jamari Moore went 2-4 as the Pineville Pioneers (6-11) took home a 3-1 victory over the Statesville Owls (12-11) in seven innings at Statesville Owls Home Field on Saturday.
He singled in the second and sixth innings.The Statesville Owls had no answer for Michael Gilroy, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Gilroy held the Statesville Owls hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two.
Kyle Allred got a hit in each of his two at bats. He singled in the second and fourth innings.
Justin Pace got the win, running his season record to 1-2. He allowed one run over five innings. Pace struck out three, walked one and gave up five hits.
Zack Wiseman ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just four innings, walked four, struck out five, and allowed three runs.
