A five-run explosion in the fifth inning lifted the Douglas (21-4) to an 8-0 win in five innings over the Everett (12-19) at Softball City on Thursday.
The Douglas were led by a flawless day at the dish by Hillary Strelau, who went 2-2 against the Everett's pitching. He singled in the fourth and fifth innings.
Tori Belton held the Everett scoreless during his five innings of work. He pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on four hits while ringing up three.
Alisa Ortega was charged with his eleventh loss of the year. He allowed eight runs in four innings, walked five and struck out five.
