Sunday was a great day for Brandon Cooksey, as he hit two home runs to carry the Taos Blizzard (22-41) to an 11-6 victory over the Trinidad Triggers (35-25) at Taos Tundra.
Richie Anderson baffled the Trinidad Triggers, striking out six batters. Anderson allowed no earned runs on three hits and four walks over six innings.
Will Leonard was solid at the plate for the Trinidad Triggers. Leonard went 2-5, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the eighth inning and singled in the ninth inning.
Ben Baker handled the Taos Blizzard's lineup with ease, racking up seven strikeouts. Baker allowed three earned runs, seven hits and no walks over seven innings.
Joe Katin improved to 3-5 on the year by picking up the win for the Taos Blizzard. He allowed one run over one inning. He struck out none, walked one and surrendered two hits.
Mike Mullen was charged with his third loss of the year. He allowed six runs in one-third of an inning, walked none and struck out one.
The Taos Blizzard's Steve Taft, Cooksey, Dominic SanFelippo and Evan Mansell combined for 12 hits and 10 RBIs.
