Alex Diaz was cold coming off the bench, but Diaz warmed up quickly as Diaz stroked a key pinch-hit single in the eight to lead the Florida Barons (4-10) to a 5-4 win over the South Florida Breakers (10-7) on Thursday at Broward College.

With the score tied at four, Diaz came to the plate and singled.

Laurent Polenghi racked up three RBIs on one hit for the Florida Barons. He homered in the sixth inning.

Orlando Rodriguez pitched lights out for the Florida Barons. Rodriguez held the South Florida Breakers hitless over 3 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out four.

Christian Lesteiro improved to 1-4 on the year by picking up the win for the Florida Barons. He struck out two, walked one and surrendered two hits.

Jackson McDonald (1-2) took the loss for the South Florida Breakers. He lasted just two innings, walked one, struck out three, and allowed one run.
