Early lead gives the Pompano Beach Clippers easy victory over the Coral Springs Canes, 11-4

The Pompano Beach Clippers (11-7) refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against the Coral Springs Canes (2-13), recording an 11-4 victory on Saturday at Miller Park.

The game was decided quickly as the Pompano Beach Clippers exerted their will early with seven runs in the first three innings.

A two-run single by Brandon Joyce during the first inning and an RBI double by Scott Matthews in the second inning fueled the Pompano Beach Clippers' offense early.

Ryan Flick got on base four times in the game for the Pompano Beach Clippers. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He singled in the fourth and ninth innings.

The Coral Springs Canes had no answer for Brandon Burgess, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Burgess gave up just one hit, allowed two earned runs, walked four and struck out five during his six innings of work.

Alec Duboy (0-3) took the loss for the Coral Springs Canes. He allowed seven runs in three innings, walked three and struck out two.
