Ryan Schmitten hopes every outing could go as well as Saturday, as Schmitten threw a shutout to carry the Pierce (12-9) to a 2-0 victory over the Centralia at Inter-Region at Centralia in seven innings.
The Centralia (8-15) had no answer for Schmitten, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Schmitten gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out eight during his seven innings of work.
Aaron McGraw delivered a big hit off the bench in the six.. His pinch-hit double was the key moment in the Pierce's two-run win.
With the game scoreless in the sixth inning McGraw came to the plate and doubled.
Chad Richter was charged with his fourth loss of the year. He lasted just seven innings, walked two, struck out three, and allowed two runs.
