A magnificent effort by Tyler Stubblefield lifted the Matsu Miners (19-10) to a 5-1 win over the Anchorage Glacier Pilots (17-16) on Monday at Mulcahy Field.
Stubblefield got the win for the Matsu Miners thanks to nine strikeouts. Stubblefield allowed one earned run on four hits and one walk over nine innings.
The Anchorage Glacier Pilots had the lead early, but couldn't hold off the Matsu Miners. The Anchorage Glacier Pilots were up until the fourth inning, but the Matsu Miners had other plans for the final outcome, taking the lead back on a two-run home run by Matt Decker.
Cameron Frost reached base four times. He scored one run and had one RBI. He doubled in the fourth innings and singled in the fifth and ninth innings.
Kevin Viers was solid at the plate for the Anchorage Glacier Pilots. Viers went 1-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the third inning.
Chandler Blanchard (1-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just six innings, walked three, struck out four, and allowed four runs.
