The Matsu Miners (18-9) shut the door early on the Chugiak Chinooks (6-22), capturing a 13-7 victory on Thursday at Hermon Brothers Field.

A two-run single by Brandon Smith, a double by Nick Blaser, a groundout by Jordan Rodgers, a single by Hunter Simmons, a single by Simmons, and a wild pitch during the second inning supplied the early offense for the Matsu Miners.Cameron Frost had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He doubled in the second inning, tripled in the seventh inning, and singled in the eighth innings.
William Arendt reached base three times. He scored one run and had one RBI. He singled in the fourth and sixth innings.
Jon Ferrendelli recorded his fourth win for the Matsu Miners even though he allowed six runs over five innings. He struck out four, walked four and surrendered seven hits.
Michael Fairchild (0-4) took the loss for the Chugiak Chinooks. He allowed eight runs in four innings, walked two and struck out three.
Smith, Frost, Simmons and Blaser helped lead the Matsu Miners. They combined for 11 hits and nine RBIs.
