The Matsu Miners need walk-off home run to beat the Chugiak Chinooks, 5-3

A walk-off blast from Cameron Newell brought home the winning run for the Matsu Miners (17-9) in a 5-3 victory over the Chugiak Chinooks (6-21) at Hermon Brothers Field on Wednesday.

Newell racked up five RBIs on two hits for the Matsu Miners. He singled in the sixth inning and homered in the ninth inning.

The Chugiak Chinooks couldn't get anything going as long as Ryan Hendrix was pitching. Hendrix gave up just two hits, allowed one earned run, walked six and struck out seven during his seven innings of work.

A bright spot for the Chugiak Chinooks in the defeat was Thomas Altimont, who allowed only zero runs while striking out six.

Isaiah Terrazas recorded his first win of the year for the Matsu Miners. He struck out none, walked none and surrendered no hits.

Tell Taylor (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked two, struck out one, and allowed four runs.
