The Peninsula Oilers (16-10) failed to take advantage of Josh Rose's effort at the plate on Monday, losing 11-9 to the Matsu Miners (16-9) at Hermon Brothers Field.
Rose rocked the Matsu Miners with two home runs. Rose went 2-3 in the game with three RBIs and three runs scored. Rose homered in the third and fifth innings.
The two teams combined for 20 runs and 24 hits, including zero extra base hits. Both bullpens were busy with 11 pitchers used in the game as the skippers of both squads tried to finish it off.
Jonny Locher reached base three times. He scored three runs and had one RBI. He singled in the third inning and homered in the sixth inning.
Ryan Oglesby pitched lights out for the Matsu Miners. The Peninsula Oilers managed just one hit off of the the Matsu Miners' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two during his 2 2/3 innings of work.
Nolan Sheridan couldn't get it done on the hill for the Peninsula Oilers, taking a loss. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked two, struck out one, and allowed three runs.
