Newell helps the Matsu Miners down the Anchorage Glacier Pilots 6-5

The Matsu Miners (7-3) beat the Anchorage Glacier Pilots (6-4) 6-5 on Thursday at Hermon Brothers Field behind Cameron Newell, who had two extra base hits.

He doubled in the third inning, homered in the fifth inning, and singled in the seventh inning.

Justin Dellinger brought the heat against the Matsu Miners during his outing. Dellinger held the Matsu Miners hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out four.

Seve Romo recorded his second win of the year for the Matsu Miners. He allowed two runs over four innings. He struck out five, walked none and surrendered seven hits.

Drew Morovick couldn't get it done on the bump for the Anchorage Glacier Pilots, taking a loss. He allowed six runs in four innings, walked two and struck out five.

The Matsu Miners were sparked by Jordan Rodgers and Newell, who teamed up for five hits and four RBIs.
