The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs (18-24) and the North Shore Navigators (17-25) each put runners in scoring position on Friday, but the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs capitalized on more RBI opportunities, pulling out a 5-4 win at Fraser Field.
The fact that the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs grouped all of their runs into the third inning helped them take advantage of their hits.
Rich Baerga was solid at the plate for the North Shore Navigators. Baerga went 3-5, drove in one and scored two runs. He doubled in the fifth innings and singled in the fourth and seventh innings.
Steve Colella improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs. He allowed three runs over five innings. He struck out two, walked one and surrendered six hits.
Kyle Gauthier (3-3) took the loss for the North Shore Navigators. He lasted just 2 1/3 innings, walked one, struck out four, and allowed five runs.
