The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs (7-13) failed to take advantage of Mattingly Romanin's effort at the plate on Friday, losing 13-11 to the Nashua Silver Knights (10-9) at Doyle Field.

Romanin hit two home runs for the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs. Romanin went 2-5 in the game with five RBIs and two runs scored. Romanin homered in the fourth inning.

The two teams combined for 24 runs and 25 hits, including zero extra base hits. There were eight pitchers used in the game as the two managers searched for any way to finish it off.

Brandon Walsh racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Nashua Silver Knights. He homered in the fifth inning and singled in the sixth inning.

Carmen Giampetruzzi got the win, running his season record to 1-1. He allowed two runs over two innings. He struck out two, walked one and surrendered three hits.

Evan Mackintosh ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just one inning, walked one, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
