Zack Short had two extra base hits, helping the Brockton Rox (5-0) to a 5-2 victory over the Seacoast Mavericks (3-2) on Wednesday at Campanelli Stadium.

Simon Mathews brought the heat against the Seacoast Mavericks during his outing. Mathews gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out five during his four innings of work.

Matt Brill led the Seacoast Mavericks' offensive threat, as he got on base four times in the game. He singled in the fourth and seventh innings.

Ryan OKane had an impressive outing against the Brockton Rox's lineup. The Brockton Rox managed just two hits off of the the Seacoast Mavericks' pitcher, who allowed one earned run, walked four and struck out three during his five innings of work.

Bill Maier recorded his first win of the year for the Brockton Rox. He allowed one run over 3 1/3 innings. Maier struck out two, walked five and gave up five hits.

Michael Driscoll couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Seacoast Mavericks, taking a loss. He lasted just 1 2/3 innings, walked two, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
