Burke helps the Southern Illinois Miners down the Normal CornBelters 5-4

Chris Burke went 2-4 and hit a home run as the Southern Illinois Miners (8-7) took home a 5-4 victory over the Normal CornBelters (4-11) at Rent One Park, Marion, IL on Sunday.

He singled in the first inning and homered in the seventh inning.

Britt Robertshaw pitched lights out for the Southern Illinois Miners. Robertshaw held the Normal CornBelters hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out three.

Richard Lucas reached base two times. He scored one run and had one RBI. He homered in the fifth inning.

Matt Bywater got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He allowed four runs over seven innings. He struck out seven, walked one and surrendered six hits.

Cullen Babin ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just three innings, walked two, struck out three, and allowed one run.
