An outstanding effort by Ross Slaney hoisted the South Bay Storm (22-20) to a 3-0 win over the Sacramento Heat (18-29) on Saturday at St. Marys College.
Slaney kept contact to a minimum, striking out 13 the Sacramento Heat batters. The South Bay Storm's pitcher gave up just three hits over nine shutout innings.
The South Bay Storm were led by Dustin Miller's hitting. Miller went 3-4 and scored one run. He singled in the first, third, and fifth innings.
A bright spot for the Sacramento Heat in the defeat was Julian Barron, who allowed only three runs while striking out five.
Barron was charged with his third loss of the year.
