Taylor Carlson went 3-3 at the plate, helping the Springfield Sliders (13-38) to a 3-1 victory over the Lorain County Ironmen (18-34) on Sunday at The Pipe Yard.
He homered in the second inning and doubled in the sixth and eighth innings.The Springfield Sliders got the win thanks in large part to Chris Powell's dominant, six-strikeout performance. Powell allowed one earned run on four hits and no walks over seven innings.
Billy Salem was hot from the plate for the Lorain County Ironmen. Salem went 3-4. He singled in the second and seventh innings and doubled in the ninth inning.
Justin Fritts was charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just six innings, walked two, struck out five, and allowed two runs.
