Fennell helps the Butler Blue Sox down the Richmond RiverRats 7-2

Mick Fennell went 1-2 as the Butler Blue Sox (33-18) took home a 7-2 victory over the Richmond RiverRats (19-31) in seven innings at McBride Stadium on Saturday.

He doubled in the sixth inning.

The Richmond RiverRats had no answer for Dave Yakopec, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Richmond RiverRats managed just two hits off of the the Butler Blue Sox's pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his three innings of work.

The Richmond RiverRats were led by Brendon Neel's hitting. Neel went 2-3 and scored one run. He doubled in the second inning and singled in the sixth inning.

Curtiss Irving put together a nice outing. Irving held the Butler Blue Sox hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two.

Alex Martin recorded his third win of the year for the Butler Blue Sox. He allowed two runs over four innings. Martin struck out four, walked two and gave up four hits.

Dalton Boucher couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Richmond RiverRats, taking a loss. He lasted just 3 1/3 innings, walked six, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
