The Springfield Sliders (9-32) beat the Quincy Gems (27-16) 5-2 on Thursday at Quincy Stadium behind A J Fritts, who had four RBIs.

The Quincy Gems had no answer for Geoff Boylston, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Quincy Gems managed just one hit off of the the Springfield Sliders' pitcher, who allowed one earned run, walked four and struck out six during his 6 2/3 innings of work.

Logan Bone had a hot bat for the Quincy Gems. Bone went 1-3, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the eighth inning.

Brendon Allen pitched six innings and allowed no earned runs, four hits and one walk while striking out three.

Allen (5-3) was the game's losing pitcher.
