The West Virginia Miners had no answer for Matt Brankle, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Brankle held the West Virginia Miners hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.
Bowie Matteson couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Richmond RiverRats, taking a loss. He lasted just six innings, walked three, struck out five, and allowed three runs.
