Grant Massey collected three hits, helping the West Virginia Miners (10-12) to a 3-1 victory over the Chillicothe Paints (13-7) on Saturday at VA Memorial Stadium.

Cody Smith picked up the win for the West Virginia Miners. Smith pitched six innings and allowed one earned run, four hits and two walks while striking out one.

Kurt Hoekstra did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Chillicothe Paints, reaching base four times. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the third and eighth innings.

Jason Johnson pitched lights out for the Chillicothe Paints. Johnson held the West Virginia Miners hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out one.

Bryce Arledge ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed one run.
