An outstanding effort by Travis Lakins spurred the Chillicothe Paints (13-6) to a 3-0 win over the West Virginia Miners (9-12) on Friday at VA Memorial Stadium.
Kurt Hoekstra was hot from the plate for the Chillicothe Paints. Hoekstra went 2-4 and scored one run. He singled in the first inning and tripled in the seventh inning.
Lakins got the win, running his season record to 3-0. Lakins struck out 14, walked none and gave up no hits.
Ryan Lavoie was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just six innings, walked one, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
