A superb effort by Jake Busiek hoisted the Quincy Gems (12-6) to a 4-0 win over the Hannibal Cavemen on Wednesday at Quincy Stadium.
Busiek struck out nine hitters en route to the the Quincy Gems win. The Quincy Gems' pitcher gave up just three hits over eight shutout innings.
Jonathan Allison was the lone bright spot for the Hannibal Cavemen (10-8) in the loss.
Allison led the Hannibal Cavemen's offensive threat, as he got on base two times in the game. He singled in the fifth inning.
Allison put together a nice outing. Allison held the Quincy Gems hitless over one inning, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out none.
Brett Peel was solid at the plate for the Quincy Gems. Peel went 3-5, drove in one and scored two runs. He doubled in the fifth inning and singled in the third and seventh innings.
Jake Eikleberry (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just four innings, walked four, struck out none, and allowed three runs.
