Friday was a great day for Adam McGinnis, as he clubbed two home runs to carry the Quincy Gems (8-5) to an 8-2 victory over the Springfield Sliders (2-11) at Quincy Stadium.

The Quincy Gems blew out the Springfield Sliders thanks to 11 hits, including zero extra base hits. A sacrifice fly by Kyle Cedotal and a three-run home run by McGinnis helped the Quincy Gems score four runs in the fourth. The Quincy Gems had three hits in the inning.

Jake Busiek picked up the win for the Quincy Gems. Busiek pitched six innings and allowed one earned run, four hits and two walks while striking out four.

Matt Stemper reached base three times. He singled in the first inning.

Jose Marin couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Springfield Sliders, taking a loss. He allowed seven runs in four innings, walked two and struck out five.

The Quincy Gems' Sean Ullrich, Chris Tschida and McGinnis combined for nine hits and seven RBIs.
