Rey Perez went 1-3, helping the Terre Haute Rex (6-2) to an 8-3 victory over the Quincy Gems (4-4) on Thursday at Bob Warn Field at Sycamore Stad.

Austin McPheron pitched lights out for the Terre Haute Rex. The Quincy Gems managed just three hits off of McPheron, who allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out three during his five innings of work.

The Terre Haute Rex had no answer for Jake Wehde, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Wehde held the Terre Haute Rex hitless over 2 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.

Jake Busiek was charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed six runs in 2 1/3 innings, walked five and struck out two.
