Sauer helps the Springfield Sliders down the Hannibal Cavemen 7-6

Dane Sauer went 2-4 as the Springfield Sliders (1-0) took home a 7-6 victory over the Hannibal Cavemen (1-1) at Clemens Field on Thursday.

He singled in the first inning.

Jose Marin had an impressive outing against the Hannibal Cavemen's lineup. The Hannibal Cavemen managed just one hit off of Marin, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four during his two innings of work.

Colton Kibler was effective even in defeat, mowing down five the Springfield Sliders batters and allowing zero runs.

Christian Cavaness was hot from the plate for the Hannibal Cavemen. Cavaness went 3-5 and scored two runs. He doubled in the second inning and singled in the fourth and seventh innings.

Robert Spath recorded his first win of the year for the Springfield Sliders. Spath struck out two, walked one and gave up one hit.

James Ball (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed one run.
