David Bourbonnais both hit and pitched well for the Danville Dans (1-2), but it wasn't enough as the Danville Dans fell to the Quincy Gems (1-1) 7-5 at Danville Stadium on Thursday.
Bourbonnais paced the Danville Dans at the plate. Bourbonnais went 2-3, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the third and seventh innings.
The Quincy Gems had no answer for Bourbonnais, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Bourbonnais gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his 1 1/3 innings of work.
Mitch Gasbarro reached base three times. He singled in the first inning and doubled in the third inning.
The Danville Dans couldn't get anything going so long as Brendon Allen was on the hill. Allen held the Danville Dans hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.
Garrison Stenger couldn't get it done on the mound for the Danville Dans, taking a loss. He lasted just 1 2/3 innings, walked three, struck out none, and allowed three runs.
