A walk-off single from Clayten Ayres brought home the winning run for the Walla Walla (21-5) in an 8-7 victory over the Yakima Valley (17-13) in 11 innings at Warrior Field on Saturday.
Ayres reached base three times. He scored one run and had one RBI. He singled in the tenth and eleventh innings.
Dane Crater had two extra-base hits for the Walla Walla. He singled in the fifth inning, doubled in the ninth inning, and homered in the tenth inning.
Levi Rudolph got the win, running his season record to 1-1. He struck out none, walked none and surrendered one hit.
Connor Lau ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in 2 2/3 innings, walked two and struck out one.
The Walla Walla were sparked by Seth Wolfe and Crater, who teamed up for five hits and four RBIs.
