A walk-off single from Jesse Houser brought home the winning run for the Walla Walla (20-5) in a 10-9 victory over the Yakima Valley (17-12) at Warrior Field on Saturday.
Both squads had things going at the plate, tallying 19 runs and 26 hits, including zero extra base hits. Both bullpens were busy with eight pitchers used in the game as the skippers of both squads tried to finish it off.
Trevor Jones went a perfect 3-3 at the dish for the Walla Walla. He tripled in the first inning and singled in the fifth and seventh innings.
Houser improved to 6-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Walla Walla. He allowed one run over one inning. Houser struck out two, walked none and gave up two hits.
Landon Messmore ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out one, and allowed one run.
