Early lead gives the Columbia Basin easy victory over the Wenatchee Valley, 11-1

The Columbia Basin (25-12) refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against the Wenatchee Valley (13-26), recording an 11-1 victory on Saturday at Columbia Basin Baseball Field.

The game was decided quickly as the Columbia Basin exerted their will early with seven runs in the first three innings.

An RBI single by Jesse Wantland in the first inning and a two-run double by Ryan Atkinson and an RBI double by Travis Key during the second inning supplied the early offense for the Columbia Basin.

Key racked up four RBIs on three hits for the Columbia Basin.

Jacob Gleichman picked up the win for the Columbia Basin. Gleichman allowed one earned run, eight hits and one walk while striking out three over seven innings of work.

Kyle Blankenship was charged with his seventh loss of the year. He allowed six runs in two innings, walked one and struck out two.
