Justin Vernia hopes every outing could go as well as Sunday, as Vernia tossed a shutout to carry the Tacoma (25-1) to a 12-0 victory over the Grays Harbor (1-20) at Olympic Stadium in eight innings.
Vernia held the Grays Harbor scoreless during his seven innings of work. He pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on two hits while striking out eight.
Everything was working at the plate for the the Tacoma in the seventh. In the inning the Tacoma scored seven runs.
Reed Johnson racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Tacoma. He doubled in the fourth inning and homered in the sixth inning.
Colton Turner ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his fourth loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked two, struck out four, and allowed five runs.
