An ace performance by Justin Vernia hoisted the Tacoma (19-1) to a 5-0 win in seven innings over the Green River (4-18) on Sunday at Heritage Park.
Vernia held the Green River scoreless during his seven innings of work. He pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on two hits while striking out four.
Will Shanahan reached base two times. He tripled in the third inning.
Christian Meister (0-2) took the loss for the Green River. He lasted just seven innings, walked two, struck out six, and allowed five runs.
