The New Brunswick (4-1)'s seven first-inning runs built an early lead that helped bring home an 8-5 win over the Newfoundland Labrador (0-5) on Saturday at Junior Martin-Bergeron.

Brett Brittany reached base four times in the game for the New Brunswick. He doubled in the fourth inning.

Keegan Spurrell went a perfect 3-3 at the plate for the Newfoundland Labrador. He singled in the fourth, fifth, and seventh innings.

Adam Kerr recorded his first win of the year for the New Brunswick. He allowed three runs over six innings. Kerr struck out three, walked two and gave up eight hits.

Daniel Toope ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed eight runs in three innings, walked five and struck out one.
