A superb effort by Devonte Odums led the Santa Fe Fuego (20-22) to a 19-11 win over the Taos Blizzard (19-23) on Sunday.
Odums racked up six RBIs on five hits for the Santa Fe Fuego. He doubled in the third inning, homered in the fourth inning, and singled in the first and sixth innings.
Each team blasted the other's pitching, and there were 30 total runs and 27 hits during the game. There were 10 pitchers used in the game as the two managers searched for any way to finish it off.
The Santa Fe Fuego turned the win into a rout with six runs in the seventh.
Sampell had an impressive outing against the Taos Blizzard's lineup. The Taos Blizzard managed just two hits off of Sampell, who allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out four during his three innings of work.
Jesse Meier got the win for the Santa Fe Fuego. He tossed 1 1/3 innings of shutout ball. Meier struck out none, walked two and gave up one hit.
Russ Burroughs couldn't get it done on the hill for the Taos Blizzard, taking a loss. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed four runs.
