Jake Gonzalez had two extra base hits, sparking the Swift Current Indians (15-5) to an 8-5 victory over the Yorkton Cardinals (7-13) on Thursday at Jubilee Park.

He singled in the fifth inning and doubled in the first and seventh innings.

Taylor MacDonell pitched lights out for the Swift Current Indians. MacDonell held the Yorkton Cardinals hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.

Nick Gallipeau was hot from the plate for the Yorkton Cardinals. Gallipeau went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the first inning and doubled in the fifth inning.

Taylor Metzger (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked two, struck out one, and allowed two runs.

The Swift Current Indians were sparked by Gonzalez and Taylor Steen, who teamed up for six hits and two RBIs.
