The Regina Red Sox (3-2) couldn't capitalize on a great day from Cory Carter on Friday, losing 7-4 to the Melville Millionaires (2-1) at Pirie Field.

Carter handled the Melville Millionaires' lineup with ease, racking up 13 strikeouts. Carter allowed one earned run, two hits and one walk over six innings.

Kevin Biro helped the Melville Millionaires take the lead for good in the seventh inning. After Chase Medler hit into a fielder's choice, Biro came to the plate with the Melville Millionaires trailing by one in the seventh inning, and singled, plating Medler and Cam Firth.

Biro racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Melville Millionaires. He singled in the seventh innings.

Callaway Kirkpatrick improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Melville Millionaires. Kirkpatrick struck out two, walked one and gave up one hit.

Ryan Brezinski (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked two, struck out none, and allowed four runs.
