A great day by Ryan Zimmerman wasn't enough to carry the Alexandria Aces (1-2) to a win on Saturday, as the Alexandria Aces fell to the McAllen Thunder (2-1) 2-1 at Bringhurst Field.

Zimmerman baffled the McAllen Thunder, striking out 10 batters. The Alexandria Aces' pitcher gave up just two hits over seven shutout innings.

Mauricio Nagahashi pushed the McAllen Thunder ahead, in the eighth inning, and the lead lasted until the final out. With the game scoreless in the eighth inning Nagahashi came to the plate and, bringing home Jacinto Cipriota.

The McAllen Thunder staved off the Alexandria Aces as the Alexandria Aces were unable to match the McAllen Thunder down the stretch.

The Alexandria Aces scored one run in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Nathan Stewart. Despite their efforts, the Alexandria Aces couldn't get over the hump.

Trent Evins got the win for the McAllen Thunder. He pitched seven shutout innings. Evins struck out two, walked one and gave up five hits.

Andrew Loynaz couldn't get it done on the hill for the Alexandria Aces, taking a loss. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked three, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
