The Sioux City Explorers fend off the Sioux Falls Canaries' late push, hold on 5-4

The Sioux Falls Canaries (0-3) were never able to get over the hump and get over their troubles against the Sioux City Explorers (3-0) on Saturday, as the Sioux Falls Canaries fell 5-4 at Sioux Falls Stadium after falling behind by five runs in the fifth inning.

The Sioux Falls Canaries scored four runs in the sixth on an error, two solo blasts, and a sacrifice fly by Cory Morales. Still, the Sioux Falls Canaries couldn't draw even.

Peter Barrows had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He doubled in the first innings, singled in the fifth inning, and tripled in the eighth inning.

JP Ramirez racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Sioux Falls Canaries. He singled in the first inning and homered in the sixth inning.

Andy Noga improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Sioux City Explorers. He allowed four runs over five innings. He struck out three, walked one and surrendered five hits.

Adam Champion (0-1) took the loss for the Sioux Falls Canaries. He lasted just six innings, walked none, struck out two, and allowed five runs.

The Sioux City Explorers were sparked by Eliezer Mesa and Barrows, who teamed up for five hits and three RBIs.
