The Quincy Gems (30-16) beat the Springfield Sliders (8-38) 2-1 in seven innings on Monday at Quincy Stadium behind Bryan Niedbalski, who went 1-3.

Nick Stroud pitched five innings and allowed no earned runs, four hits and three walks while striking out two.

Will Schierholz improved to 1-2 on the year by picking up the win for the Quincy Gems. Schierholz struck out one, walked one and gave up no hits.

Erik Johansen was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked three, struck out three, and allowed two runs.
