Devin Pickett went 2-4, helping the Quincy Gems (13-6) to a 5-1 victory over the Hannibal Cavemen (8-11) on Thursday at Clemens Field.
He doubled in the third innings and singled in the ninth inning.The Quincy Gems relied on Josh Martsching to eat up innings en route to the win. Martsching allowed no earned runs, five hits and one walk while striking out three over eight innings of work.
Kyle Kuck ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just six innings, walked three, struck out one, and allowed four runs.
