The Pineville Pioneers (7-7) and the Statesville Owls (4-8) both had scoring chances on Saturday, but it was the Pineville Pioneers that were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out a 6-5 win at Jack Hughes Park.

Trevor Hutto pitched lights out for the Pineville Pioneers. The Statesville Owls managed just two hits off of Hutto, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out seven during his three innings of work.

Kevin Hughes ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked two, struck out none, and allowed one run.
