Tyler Chadwick went 1-3 as the Ballantyne Smokies (12-8) took home a 1-0 victory over the Statesville Owls (10-10) in seven innings at Statesville Aggies Home Field on Monday.
He doubled in the seventh inning.Cameron Hokanson's seven strikeouts were enough to push the Ballantyne Smokies past the Statesville Owls. The Ballantyne Smokies' pitcher tossed five innings of shutout ball and allowed only three hits.
Despite the loss, the Statesville Owls' Clint Howell dominated the Ballantyne Smokies' batters, giving up one run and striking out five.
Howell (2-2) was the game's losing pitcher.
