Ryan Demmin hopes every outing could go as well as Thursday, as Demmin tossed a shutout to carry the Normal CornBelters (33-25) to a 13-0 victory over the Frontier Greys (21-37) at The Corn Crib.
The Normal CornBelters' Demmin kept the Frontier Greys off the scoreboard for all nine innings he was on the hill. He pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on four hits while striking out nine.
Six runs in the opening three innings allowed the Normal CornBelters to easily put away the Frontier Greys. An RBI double by Patrick McKenna and an RBI single by Ryan Lashley in the first inning supplied the early offense for the Normal CornBelters.
Jason Matusik racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Normal CornBelters. He singled in the third inning and doubled in the fifth inning.
Matt Costello (2-6) took the loss for the Frontier Greys. He allowed nine runs in four innings, walked one and struck out two.
