The Washington Wild Things (22-21) beat the Evansville Otters (23-19) 8-1 on Friday at Bosse Field after a five-run explosion in the sixth inning.

The Evansville Otters were ahead early but they ultimately surrendered the lead for good. The Evansville Otters led until the sixth inning, but the Washington Wild Things took the lead back.

Jim Vahalik racked up three RBIs on four hits for the Washington Wild Things. He homered in the eighth inning and singled in the second, sixth, and ninth innings.

The Washington Wild Things relied on Zach LeBarron to eat up innings en route to the win. LeBarron allowed one earned run, five hits and two walks while striking out three over 6 2/3 innings of work.

Ryan Gibson (0-1) took the loss for the Evansville Otters. He lasted just five innings, walked six, struck out six, and allowed three runs.
