Weist's walk-off single send the Battle Creek Bombers home winners, 1-0

Story by Narrative Science.

A walk-off single from Mark Weist brought home the winning run for the Battle Creek Bombers (1-0) in a 1-0 victory over the La Crosse Loggers in 10 innings at C.O. Brown Stadium on Wednesday.

The Battle Creek Bombers were led by Weist's hitting. Weist went 1-4. He tripled in the sixth inning and singled in the tenth inning.

The La Crosse Loggers (0-1) couldn't get anything going as long as Hunter Devall was pitching. Devall held the La Crosse Loggers hitless over four innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out nine.

Brian Heldman got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He struck out two, walked none and surrendered two hits.

Ben Cejka was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 3 1/3 innings, walked one, struck out three, and allowed one run.
