The Normal CornBelters make the most of 5 hits in 8-7 victory over the River City Rascals

Both the Normal CornBelters (12-4) and the River City Rascals (7-8) put runners aboard on Sunday, but it was the Normal CornBelters that were able to take advantage, pulling out an 8-7 win at The Corn Crib.

The Normal CornBelters would not relinquish the lead as the River City Rascals were unable to weather a five-run fourth inning deficit.

The River City Rascals scored on a two-run error in the fifth inning, a two-run home run by Jake Atwell in the sixth inning, and an RBI double by Scott Dalrymple in the eighth inning. Unfortunately, the River City Rascals weren't able to take the lead back.

Patrick McKenna had two extra-base hits for the Normal CornBelters. He homered in the third inning and doubled in the seventh inning.

Luis Noel recorded his first win for the Normal CornBelters even though he allowed six runs over five innings. Noel struck out one, walked four and gave up four hits.

The Normal CornBelters were sparked by McKenna and David Medina, who teamed up for three hits and four RBIs.

Andrew Virgili took the loss for the River City Rascals. He lasted just three innings, walked two, struck out three, and allowed four runs.
