The Southern Illinois Miners (9-6) outlasted the Traverse City Beach Bums (8-7) on Thursday after four lead changes, squeaking out a 8-4 win at Rent One Park, Marion, IL.

Cannon Lester racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Southern Illinois Miners. He singled in the third inning, homered in the seventh inning, and tripled in the eighth inning.

Andrew Cohn reached base four times. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He singled in the seventh and ninth innings.

Dayne Quist improved to 2-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Southern Illinois Miners. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered one hit.

Scott Mueller ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked one, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
